Colin Firth’s ex-wife, Livia Giuggioli, has joined the backlash against Gwyneth Paltrow, branding her ‘disgusting’.
The Sliding Doors actress, 53, has faced growing backlash for collaborating with Israeli real estate group Aviv Melisron to promote luxury properties named 51 Park, which sit just one hour from where Gaza is still enduring attacks.
Livia, 56, who was married to Colin for 22 years until 2019, has now vowed to ‘cancel’ Gwyneth and called off the Goop founder’s forthcoming visit to her farm in Italy.
She revealed that Gwyneth had been due to stay at Quintosapore, a sustainable farm on the Tuscan-Umbrian border that she co-founded with her brothers, but she no longer wants her there due to the advert.
Colin, with whom Gwyneth starred in the Oscar-winning film Shakespeare In Love, reportedly remains closely tied to the farm.
Livia declared online after the release of the collaboration: ‘I just cancelled Gwyneth Paltrow.’
She continued: ‘She was supposed to come to the farm in a couple of weeks’ time on a tour, a soil-to-fork farm experience, and we just cancelled her because what she did is completely unacceptable…
‘Making an ad for a luxury condo is as disgusting as it can be for someone [with] privilege.
‘How detached are you from reality? You’re either so detached that you need to be cancelled, because you live in another world.
‘Or you’re actually a really, really nasty person. Or you are stupid. Which are you, Gwyneth Paltrow?’
The advert shows Gwyneth waking up in a lavish penthouse, thought to cost upwards of $10,000,000, and getting ready for the day while listing the benefits of living near a park.
‘There’s a reason the world’s most iconic buildings are by a park,’ she says, before telling her driver to take her to 51 Park in the affluent Israeli city of Herzliya.
‘New York?’ he asked, to which she replied with a smile: ‘No, Herzliya, Israel’.
The advert has been branded ‘tone deaf’ and ‘vile’, with X user HadiyaAwan94 writing: ‘The penthouses aka. Death houses that Gwyneth Paltrow is promoting are built on Palestinian Arab village of Al-Haram also known as Sayyidna Ali. Palestinian blood paid for them.’
While Malcolm_Pal9 added: ‘Gwyneth Paltrow is promoting 51 Park, a luxury housing project on the Herzliya seafront built on stolen land.
‘The site was once the Palestinian village of al-Haram, whose residents were displaced during the 1948 war. The project is being built on land stolen from Palestinians.’
The actress, who is yet to publicly share the advert herself, was also defended by fans, with one writing: ‘Gwyneth has not allowed woke cancel culture prevent her from showing her Jewish pride or using her platform to raise awareness of the Israeli hostages’ plight as she did after October 7.
‘So this doesn’t surprise me. Thank you Gwyneth for standing on the right side of history.’
