Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have had their first public outing as husband and wife following their secret wedding.
The billionaire footballer, 41, wed his long-time partner, 32, in an ‘intimate and private’ ceremony last week, a year after he popped the question with a £3million ring.
It came after rumours of a spectacle at Portugal’s Funchal Cathedral, followed by a bash at the five-star Savoy Palace, spread wildly in the British press, leading everyone to believe they were getting hitched there last weekend.
But when a bride and groom who were most certainly not Ronaldo and Rodriguez arrived to a crowd of thousands, the penny dropped that those were all they were – rumours.
After actually tying the knot, with their children in attendance, the newlyweds were seen on Saturday night at the Saudi Pro League match between Al-Nassr and Al-Fateh at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh.
Living it up in the VIP box, the couple watched the on-pitch action unfold, which resulted in a 3-0 victory for Al-Nassr.
Portuguese athlete Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in 2023 but missed out on the preseason due to the 2026 World Cup, which Portugal crashed out of after being beaten by Spain in the Round of 16.
He was then away for his wedding, meaning he’s only just caught up with his team in the last few days.
Still, he offered his support and was seen clapping at one point during the game, looking on intently.
Ronaldo wore all-black attire and was draped in expensive jewellery, while new wife Rodriguez cut a stylish figure in a satin bomber jacket.
With her husband’s eyes glued to the pitch, she held their daughter Alana, eight, while twins Eva and Mateo, nine, stood beside her, wearing the team’s shirts.
Rodriguez met Ronaldo in 2016 when she worked as a sales manager at the Gucci store in Madrid.
Fast forward a decade, and they said ‘I do’ in a surprisingly low-key ceremony, considering their combined Instagram following of over 750 million and his net worth exceeding $1.2billion.
Details emerged of their ceremony this weekend, with Vogue revealing that they married in their living room in Cascais, Portugal, where they own a £30m mansion.
‘It was exactly as I’d imagined it,’ said Rodriguez, admitting that she ‘couldn’t hold back the tears’.
Jornal de Noticias published a copy of their marriage certificate on Thursday, which confirmed just four witnesses were present, as well as their children.
Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, and his siblings Hugo, Elma, and Katia were not present and reportedly found out about the wedding just 30 seconds before.
Still, his mother had given her blessing, having already had to refute claims of a feud with her daughter-in-law once before.
When Ronaldo took to social media with a snap of their wedding bands, she commented a heart underneath.
And it looks like she’ll be on the guest list later when plans for a big blow-out are arranged.
‘In the future we will have a big wedding so we can celebrate with family and friends,’ Rodriguez shared with Vogue following a ‘crazy year’ of commitments in both their work and personal lives.
‘When I was a little girl, I dreamt of the biggest castle, the biggest carriage, the longest dress, a crown full of diamonds. And now I’m saying, “No. I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home.”
‘Because castles, houses, islands, horses, cars: we have all of that within reach every day. But something intimate – that’s more unusual for us.’
Ronaldo himself chimed in when asked whether being married will change anything.
‘Just the fact of being man and wife – you enter a different league,’ he said, going on to say this is ‘probably [his] last year of football’, so his future is ‘all mapped out’ as he commits to spending more time with his family… not even ruling out the possibility of another child.
‘Another baby now would be overbooking at home. But when the youngest are 15 or 16, we’ll still be young, so why not? It’s true that I can’t imagine myself without small children, so we’ll see,’ said Rodriguez.
‘I never say never,’ declared Ronaldo. ‘I want to leave a spectacular legacy.’
