Sir David Beckham is officially the richest sportsman in the UK, having tipped into billionaire status for the first time over the past year.
It seems the fallout with son Brooklyn hasn’t harmed Sir David’s business ventures too much, as the family have doubled their wealth since last year.
The Sunday Times rich list estimates the former England captain and his pop legend wife, Victoria, are now worth a whopping £1.185billion.
This technically makes the Beckhams richer than King Charles III, who has an estimated personal wealth of £680million.
The boost is largely thanks to Sir David’s 26% stake in Inter Miami FC, as well as owning a large property portfolio around the US club’s stadium.
Over the past year, Victoria’s fashion brand and beauty endeavours have also risen in value, adding to the family’s sizeable pot.
The Beckhams have always been savvy when it comes to their brand, collaborating with plenty of
Of course, their huge Netflix deals will have also helped, with both Posh and Becks releasing individual multi-part documentaries to give insight into their family life.
Originally, Sir David, 51, was said to have signed a £16million deal with the streamer but this number then reportedly rose to £20million for Victoria’s documentary after Beckham’s success.
Family life has been particularly rocky for the Beckhams over the past year, with eldest son Brooklyn cutting ties with his parents.
In January, Brooklyn, 27, finally responded to rumours that there had been an almighty rift in the family that had been brewing for years.
Victoria, 52, made a veiled allusion to the parenting of Brooklyn and his siblings, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14, when discussing the family’s commercial empire on Emma Grede’s podcast.
She and her footballer husband have largely chosen to avoid speaking publicly about the ongoing dispute, and when she finally addressed it – but refused to say his name.
Brooklyn is now living away from his parents in the US with his wife Nicola Peltz, the daughter of businessman Nelson Peltz.
The Beckhams’ new billionaire status puts them not far behind the estimated wealth of the Peltzes, who sit at around $1.6billion (£1.2billion).
Nicola reportedly receives a staggering monthly allowance from her billionaire father to the tune of $100,000 (£735,000).
On The Rest is Entertainment podcast, presenter Marina Hyde claimed: ‘From what I hear I think the Beckhams give Brooklyn a lot of money but not insane money and they have this dream to some degree that he will stand on his own two feet and become independent.
‘Maybe Nelson Peltz would deny this, but I hear that he said to them that “I give my daughter a million dollar a month allowance”.
‘The one thing they [the Beckhams] didn’t think their children would be doing would be the ones signing the prenuptial, they thought it would be the other way round.’
With their newfound billionaire status, that wealth gap appears to have levelled out but the rift between the Beckhams and Brooklyn might still be too wide to heal.
