A co-op puzzler from the creators of Untitled Goose Game has become the latest indie success story, as it sells one million copies in less than a week.

Following the breakout hit of Meccha Chameleon, 2026 has delivered another indie success story in Big Walk

Developed by House House, the studio behind Untitled Goose Game, Big Walk is a co-op adventure game where you solve puzzles with friends in an open world. It earned a 9/10 in our review, where it was described as ‘one of the best releases of the year’.

Clearly, others agree as it currently ranks as the highest-rated game on Metacritic with a score of 92 (albeit based on only 22 reviews), ahead of Forza Horizon 6 and Mina The Hollower

Just six days after the game launched on August 4, Big Walk has now surpassed one million copies sold, as confirmed by publisher Panic.

‘We are so grateful that so many of you are spending time with our game,’ Panic’s post on X reads. ‘And we deeply appreciate your fanart, your streams, and your moments. Thank you for playing.’

It’s an impressive figure, especially as it doesn’t include PS Plus downloads. Big Walk is currently available to PS Plus Essential subscribers on PlayStation 5 at no extra cost in August, so most people on Sony’s console have likely accessed it that way.

The game is also available on PC (it’s currently third on Steam’s top sellers, behind the Steam Machine and Counter-Strike 2) and the Nintendo Switch 2 (it’s fourth on the eShop). In other words, the bulk of this one million figure likely comes from those systems.

For a comparison, last year’s multiplayer indie co-op hit Peak also surpassed one million copies in six days. It went on to sell over 10 million copies after two months.

While Big Walk is certainly a hit, it’s not quite the level of Hollow Knight: Silksong, which sold over 3 million copies within three days on Steam alone. Similarly, Meccha Chameleon racked up three million sales in a week, so that’s still the biggest breakthrough of the year so far.

Even so, it’s still a huge achievement for a small team – especially as it could rival sales figures among hits in the AAA space. Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced hit three million sales in its first week, while Capcom’s Pragmata sold 2.5 million copies in 16 days.

According to estimates, Meccha Chameleon is the highest-selling game of 2026 so far with over 15 million copies sold, ahead of EA Sports FC 26, Resident Evil Requiem and Forza Horizon 6.
