Cameron Diaz was the bearer of some wholesome news this week: she welcomed her third child with her husband, Good Charlotte rockstar Benji Madden.
Cameron, 53, and Benji, 47, shared the announcement on Instagram, along with the unique name they’d chosen for their baby.
‘Cameron and I are Happy, Excited, and feeling so BLESSED to announce the birth of our third Child, Nautas Madden. Welcome to the world Son!!👊❤️’ the post read.
‘We love life with our family- our kids are healthy&happy, and we are grateful!!!🙏🙏having a blast ❤️Sending all our best wishes- the Madden Family.’
While the couple opted to keep photos of the newborn private, they did reveal the meaning behind the unusual moniker.
Benji explained that Nautas means ‘sailor, navigator, voyager,’ and ‘one who embarks on a journey and fears not the unknown.’
Cameron and Benji are veteran parents at this point — the couple share daughter Raddix, who was born in December 2019 via surrogate, and son Cardinal, who came in March 2024.

How did Cameron and Benji meet?
Cameron and Benji first met in 2014 at an event attended by his twin brother and bandmate, Joel Madden and his wife, Nicole Richie.
The Holiday star recalled their first meeting back in 2021, on the Anna Faris is Unqualified podcast.
She said: ‘I met them first [Cameron was already friends with Joel and Nicole] and then they didn’t set us up, but we were in the same room because of them, and then we found each other.’
Cameron added that she was surprised that she had never properly met Benji before, even though they ran in the same social circles.
Nicole claimed responsibility for introducing Cameron to her brother-in-law the same year. She told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live at the time: ‘I’m going to take responsibility for everything! I approve of anything that’s going to make Benji happy.’
A few months later, Benji told People magazine that he was ‘really happy right now,’ referring to his relationship with Cameron.
When did Cameron and Benji get engaged?
Cameron and Benji announced their engagement in December 2014, just seven months after they started dating.
One of Benji’s friends confirmed the proposal to People, stating that those close to him were ‘aware and happy for him.’ The source also claimed that Cameron’s mum was ‘a fan’ of Benji and had given her blessing.
The happy couple also said in a statement: ‘We couldn’t be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends.’
When did Cameron and Benji get married?
Cameron and Benji didn’t wait long to tie the knot. Just one month later, in January 2015, the pair wed in a surprise ceremony in their Beverly Hills home.
The wedding was reportedly attended by around 90 guests, who had been told they were actually heading to a pre-Golden Globes party.
According to Us Weekly, the bridesmaids were Drew Barrymore, Nicole Richie, Cameron’s sister Chimene and Cameron’s then-assistant Jessica Lutz.
Benji’s nephew Sparrow Madden (the son of Nicole and Joel) was the ring bearer, while guests included Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Ronson and Reese Witherspoon.
In 2022, Cameron reflected on their successful marriage, speaking on Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers podcast.
She gushed that Benji has ‘really taught [her] to value [herself] a lot more.’
She added: ‘With our marriage, I learned how to really go all in. Nothing else comes before this. It’s not hard to do because [our marriage is] the most valuable thing I have.’
What has Cameron said about being a mum?
Cameron has spoken a lot about motherhood over the years. In 2020, just one year after the birth of her daughter Raddix, she told Entertainment Tonight that being a mother was the ‘best, best part’ of her life.
‘I love being a mother. I’m so grateful and so happy and it’s the best thing ever and I’m so lucky to do it with Benji,’ she said.
The Back in Action star also opened up about being an older mother while chatting to Gwyneth Paltrow on her GOOP podcast.
Cameron suggested that the ‘whole concept’ of ageing has changed — especially in the last 10 years.
‘It’s totally opened up. I’m excited. I’ve got 50 or 60 years to go — I want to live to be 110 since I’ve got a young child,’ she said.
Cameron then spoke specifically about her daughter, stating that ‘you have this amazing moment in your 40s where you appreciate who your parents are.’
The actress said that she wants to have that moment with Raddix and ‘be there with her in her 40s.’
Elsewhere, Cameron spoke about the differences between having a family when you’re young versus a little older.
Speaking on the YouTube series, No Filter, she explained: ‘Having a family when you’re young…it’s like anything when you’re young: You do it.’
However, she mused that starting a family later in life (Cameron was 47 years old when Raddix was born) is a ‘real choice.’
‘You really have to work hard for it,’ she added, before joking: ‘The only pressure for me now is I have to live to be 107. No pressure!’
Who else has Cameron Diaz been with?
Cameron has had a string of high-profile relationships over the years, perhaps the most high-profile being with Jared Leto, Justin Timberlake, and baseball player Alex Rodriguez.
She dated Jared between 1999 and 2003, but kept their relationship private. At the time, there were rumours of an engagement.
Justin, whose 2024 drink-driving arrest video was recently released, came later. The former couple were in a highly publicised relationship between 2003 and 2007 that ended amicably.
