Despite having her first child at 17, Jamie Lynn Spears has always been a very hands-on mother and active in her daughters’ lives.
Now, her own daughter is 17 and Spears can’t believe how quickly time passed. In recent years, she revealed Maddie was headed to prom with friends. Now, there’s another major celebration happening in their home.
“Already emotionally unwell, and the actual graduation hasnât even happened yet,” the former Nickelodeon star shared on Instagram. She attached several sweet images and videos, including some with Maddie and her younger sister, Ivey.
Overall, fans went wild for the post and couldn’t believe how grown-up Maddie looked. Few could believe that she had finally reached this major milestone in life.

Now that Maddie Watson is approaching her 18th birthday, she’s looking for ways to share her own story with the world. She started a YouTube channel and vulnerably opened up about the infamous ATV accident that dominated headlines at the time.
In 2017, 8-year-old Maddie accidentally drove an ATV into a pond. It flipped over on her and she nearly drowned. Thanks to quick action by her mother and stepfather, she received prompt medical attention and survived.
However, the road to recovery was long and arduous.
“I did have an accident, though. I was in a coma, and I came back to life, and Iâm very blessed. So yeah, Iâve just been very accident-prone. I swear my parents are amazing, and they did not do anything to me,” the teen shared on her YouTube channel.
Jamie Lynn Spears praised her daughter’s bravery and reposted the video on Instagram.
“What was supposed to be a fun way to document her senior year on @youtube has now turned into a way for her to share the not so fun parts of life too,” the former child star shared. “You can work so hard, and do everything right, yet still face adversity, no matter what path youâre on in life. You canât control everything that happens to you, but you can decide how you react to what happens to you.
“I know being a resilient person is one of the best qualities a human can have, but itâs only earned by having no other choice but to be resilient,” Spears continued. “Gotta trust Gods plan. Iâm so proud of this kid, she never lets anything or anyone sit her down, and sharing her journey through it all hopefully inspires others to never stop going hard for what they want out of life.
