Presenter Lisa Faulkner has shared that she has undergone a ‘big operation’ and will now face radiotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The 54-year-old star addressed her ‘quiet’ presence on social media, revealing she’d been diagnosed after a mammogram.

She said she was so ‘grateful’ she’d actually gone for the routine screening, which is offered to women aged 50 to 70 on the NHS.

‘I know I’ve been very quiet on here, reason being I have had to have surgery for the early stages of breast cancer,’ she said on Instagram.

Lisa continued: ‘I had surgery two weeks ago, it was quite a big op but it’s all good and I’ve my results back and they’ve got everything out.

‘So it’s all clear, and I just need now to have some radiotherapy in a few weeks.

‘I just wanted to say I’ve got a bit of healing to do but I’m good. I’m well and feeling so much better and I’m so grateful I went for my mammogram.’

Explaining why she’d chosen to share her story, Lisa added: ‘I just wanted to say don’t put them off, go, because they found this and without that mammogram it wouldn’t have been picked up.

‘Thank you to our wonderful NHS and the fact we can have these mammograms and we can get treatment early.’

Lisa is known for her roles in Holby City, The Girl Before, EastEnders and more, but has carved out a career as a TV Chef and presenter.

Her career pivot came in 2010 when she won Celebrity MasterChef, going on to host Channel 4 series What’s Cooking?

She also presents John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen with her husband John Torode, who she married in 2019.
