It’s a four-day work week, so a weekend where you can kick your feet up and put on a movie is closer than you think. Phew. But what should you watch?
Netflix has compiled its weekly top films for any indecisive folks out there to show you what you should be watching.
From Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor quite literally batting away sharks instead of suitors, to an Italian comedy film about an unwanted pilgrimage, here are the streaming platform’s top five titles causing a stir right now.
5. Buen Camino – 4,000,000 views

If you’re a hiker, Buen Camino might be one for you. If you’re not, this might be the way to experience a hike without getting up from the sofa.
The only non-English film to make it to the top five this week, this Italian comedy follows a reluctant father undertaking the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage to find his missing daughter.
But comedies are often best witnessed in motion, so why not check out the trailer to see if you want to put one foot in front of the other to turn on the TV…

4. Migration – 4,100,000 views
Migration – by the same creators of Despicable Me, Sing and The Secret Life of Pets – has been in the top 10 movies in 22 countries this week, so clearly we all needed a bit of cheering up (or, for those in the UK, the kids took charge of the remote over the bank holiday).
This heartwarming animated movie, which follows a family of ducks on an adventure to Jamaica, has a very respectable 73% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences praising it for ‘cute characters’ and ‘plenty of laughs’.
3. Thrash – 4,300,000 views
Phoebe Dynevor found herself a long way from Bridgerton in this new Netflix horror movie full of hurricanes and sharks, 51 years since Jaws first terrified fans.
Although the film might be viewed as a little absurd (it only holds a 41% rating on Rotten Tomatoes) viewers seemed to have enjoyed the film as a guilty pleasure anyway. Interested? Dive in here…

2. Swapped – 15,500,000 views
Another very cute animated film with Sinner’s Michael B. Jordan voicing a small, chipmunk-like character called a Pookoo?
Well, yes, that is actually the second-favourite movie of the week with over 15,000,000 views.
And why not? The Freaky Friday (but animals) concept delivers a poignant message when two sworn enemies magically swap places to go on an adventure of a lifetime – and it holds a positive 70% on Rotten Tomatoes.

1. Apex – 40,200,000 views
Apex has been top of everyone’s watch list — and for good reason.
The survival thriller starring Charlize Theron as a woman trying to outrun a blood-thirsty hunter (Taron Egerton) has soared to the top of the Netflix charts.
If anyone remembers 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman, Theron finds herself in Snow White’s place here, except we’re in the Australian Wilderness, and it’s just a little bit more ruthless and bloody.

With 40,200,000 views this week, it has cleared the other films off the board, despite a rather average 66% on Rotten Tomatoes.
It seems that Netflix viewers are rushing to binge this thriller that, apparently, ‘will make you never want to leave your house again’. Want to stay up all night?
