Oasis ‘concerned’ over 100 hours of unfiltered Gallagher brothers’ conversations being released

Oasis are reportedly ‘concerned’ after more than 100 hours of unheard recordings – including ‘unfiltered dialogue’ between  Liam and Noel Gallagher – were put up for auction.

The extraordinary archive reportedly contains recordings of live shows and rehearsals collected by the band’s former sound engineer, Huw Richards, who worked with the Britpop giants between 1994 and 2001.

But potentially far more intriguing than another rendition of Wonderwall is what was captured when the music stopped, with The Sun reporting that the band is ‘concerned.’

The tapes reportedly feature candid conversations between the famously volatile brothers, recorded years before their relationship spectacularly imploded and Oasis split in 2009.

They are now expected to fetch an eye-watering sum, with a guide price reportedly set between £1.2million and £1.6million.

Richards’ son Owain is selling the collection through Littleton Auctions, with the lot due to go under the hammer as part of its music auction on October 3.

However, Liam, 53, and Noel, 59, are apparently less than thrilled about the prospect of decades-old conversations potentially finding their way into somebody else’s hands.

Littleton Auctions managing director Robin Fletcher told The Times: ‘The Oasis camp is aware of the auction and has expressed concerns, which is entirely understandable given the scale and significance of the material.’

He insisted the auction house was ‘handling everything with full transparency and proper legal process’.

‘Our focus is simply on presenting these items responsibly, with verified provenance, and allowing collectors and institutions to engage with an important part of British music history,’ he added.

The recordings are believed to be unique, making the archive a potentially remarkable time capsule from Oasis’s imperial era.

The catalogue for the auction is no longer available to view on Littleton Auctions’ website.

It comes just as Liam and Noel have allowed fans unprecedented access to their relationship following their remarkable reunion.

The brothers spent 15 years barely speaking following Oasis’s acrimonious 2009 split before finally reuniting for their mammoth Live ’25 tour last year.

Their reconciliation is now the subject of upcoming documentary Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, which captures the pair rebuilding their relationship behind the scenes.

The film even reveals the extent to which the family feud had spread to the next generation, with Noel admitting his sons Donovan, 18, and Sonny, 15, had never met Liam’s sons Lennon, 26, and Gene, 25, before the reunion.

‘Donovan and Sonny had never met Gene and Lennon. Lo and behold they’re best friends now,’ Noel says in the film.

Liam jokes that their sons now go out together and get ‘f**king spangled’, while Noel recalls Donovan drunkenly singing Rock ‘N’ Roll Star into a plastic bag during the tour.

‘He reminded me so much of me and Liam and I said to Liam, “That was us,”’ he says.

Screenwriter Steven Knight previously told Metro and other outlets that the filmmakers unexpectedly found themselves documenting not only Liam and Noel’s reconciliation, but their families coming together too.

‘We’ve got cameras on that relationship developing for real as they tour. The kids become friends,’ he said at Venice Film Festival.

‘It’s family, and I think that we were very fortunate that that’s what happened, because that’s exactly what we hoped would happen.

‘Because from the beginning we wanted to make this a film about reconciliation, redemption, and forgiveness.’

The documentary received an ecstatic reception at Venice, where Noel was seen wiping away a tear during an eight-minute standing ovation.

Co-director Dylan Southern Lovelace said the brothers were ‘very emotional’ after watching the finished film, which chronicles their relationship gradually thawing throughout rehearsals and the tour.

‘I think the whole world was interested in that 15 years apart, and will it work, and what’s it going to be like?’ he said.

‘And it was a sort of privilege to be able to see that relationship get closer together.’

That reunion may not be finished yet either.

Despite Oasis completing their comeback tour, Noel recently fuelled speculation that the band could return to the road in 2027.

Pressed about another summer of shows on talkSPORT’s Drive, he initially joked that Liam was ‘not into Oasis any more’.

But when host Andy Goldstein refused to let the subject drop, Noel offered a rather conspicuous tease.

‘Well let’s put it this way,’ he said. ‘There’s no football tournament on next year, so the summer, we’ve gotta do something in the summer, right?’

Whether the Gallaghers are quite as enthusiastic about revisiting what they were saying to each other 25 years ago, however, appears to be another matter entirely.
