Fans were concerned for Harry Styles after he was seen ‘collapsing’ on stage, but the real reason for his fall to the floor has been revealed.
In a video from his Together Together tour in London he relaxes his legs and ends up horizontal, lying down for short while before getting up.
The singer was doing his ‘whale move’, which involves a tip back of the head and the spraying of water with his mouth, before he appeared to need a lie down.
He then lay on his back, letting out some coughs and appearing to catch his breath.
Despite the extreme weather that has caused disruption across the UK and led to rule changes at Harry’s gigs, it wasn’t the scorching heat which caused him to collapse.
TMZ reports that the incident occurred after an ‘onstage mishap’ during his ‘signature crowd interaction’.
The publication claims sources close to the situation said he accidentally choked on the water, ‘leading to the unexpected stumble’.
In the video, he rests on the hard floor of the stage for around 20 seconds before making a move.
One of the fans who captured the moment wrote: ‘The man collapsed.’
Harry then peels himself off the ground and a large sweat patch is visible on the back of his shirt.
The As It Was singer, clad in his tie and mini shorts, then effortlessly jogs around stage, waving to the adoring crowd.
He can be seen mouthing ‘thank you’ as he soaks up the love from one of his 12 nights at Wembley Stadium this summer.
Responding to the video on X, Maria David wrote: ‘Harry really said ‘water went down the wrong pipe’ and committed to the bit like it’s the final scene of a Broadway musical.’
Similarly, users like Nicc reported that Harry told fans from stage that his momentary collapse had been because of his water.
Melissa offered another take: ‘He clearly did that on purpose he didn’t collapse he was being dramatic. That’s why they’re cheering because it’s not that serious.’
Last week, the venue confirmed to Metro that it would be relaxing its ‘traditional policies around water bottles’, allowing metal ones inside the stadium despite previously not allowing them.
It also sold bottled water for half price if bought at the bar, and provided free sun cream.
At the beginning of last week we were gearing up for the hottest June days on record, but that didn’t stop marathoner Harry from getting his jogging practice in.
The 32-year-old was seen running to the venue in the heat wearing lilac shorts and a grey sweatshirt, seemingly not even breaking a sweat.
With heatwaves and mini choking incidents, it’s not been totally plain sailing for Harry who has been performing his Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally album.
He also had to pause the gig mid-song one night earlier this month to help a fan find their sister during one of his shows.
But the former One Direction band member has taken it all in his stride, not letting the adverse conditions affect his performance.
Harry Styles’ representatives declined to comment.
