Romeo Beckham is set to take Hollywood by storm with his first foray into acting, which hits theatres later this year.

The 23-year-old progeny of Sir David Beckham and Victoria Beckham will make his acting debut in the film Forty Love.

Fresh from his 2024 retirement from Brentford FC’s B team and football as a whole, Romeo will star in a film about another professional sport, which sounds a bit like the plot to 2024’s Challengers.

The film tells the story of tennis golden boy Sacha Gallo, who has been training with his father in the hopes of clinching a major trophy in Paris (perhaps Roland Garros?).

But an up-and-coming rival, played by Romeo, throws a spanner in the works and tests all Sacha’s preconceived notions about the game and himself.

According to Variety, the synopsis reads: ‘For the first time, he faces an opponent of an entirely different nature – love. A force as exhilarating as it is destabilising – and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.’

Directed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti, Romeo will star in the French Riviera-set film alongside Paul Kircher, Guillaume Canet, Catherine Deneuve and Benjamin Voisin. The score will be handled by 070 Shake and Johan Lenox.

The Balenciaga model has yet to comment on the film publicly, but a first-look image of Forty Love has been released, which shows him with a buzzcut, looking into the eyes of his co-star Paul Kircher.

The film will be produced by Chi-Fou-Mi Productions, whose president Hugo Selignac described the film as ‘sensual, romantic and deeply moving romantic fable and coming-of-age story’

Selignac added that it follows the ‘demands of high-level sport, and everything that lies beneath the surface’ and will be ‘led by outstanding performances’.

Studiocanal will be co-producing the film and handling its distribution when it hits screens this winter in France.

Studiocanal’s head of international sales for films and TV Chloé Marquet said: ‘[Director Pierre-Ange] Carlotti’s singular visual language gives the film a real edge, while its exploration of desire, competition and identity will resonate with audiences worldwide.’

Forty Love will be in theatres in France on November 25.
