Schitt’s Creek is officially leaving Netflix UK in days – where else can you watch it?

Without wanting to cause alarm, it’s time we broke the news that Schitt’s Creek is departing Netflix UK in a matter of days.

That’s right, the beloved sitcom starring Eugene and Daniel Levy, Annie Murphy and the late Catherine O’Hara, is leaving the streamer next month.

The comforting show, which ran from 2015 to 2020, follows the once wealthy Rose family who are forced to relocate to a small town they once bought – Schitt’s Creek. After moving into a motel, the series follows their attempts to adapt to a new life, without the luxuries they once knew.

Catherine, who died earlier this year aged 71, plays the incomparable matriarch Moira Rose – a former soap star who has as many one-liners as she once did shoes (a lot!). While Daniel and Annie play the hilariously spoilt children, David and Alexis, Eugene is the more rational presence in a sea of initial chaos, who finds purpose helping run the town’s motel.

Whether you’ve watched it multiple times before, or are coming to it for the first time, this is your two and a half week warning to stream as many episodes as possible before May 15.

Why is Schitt’s Creek leaving Netflix UK?

It’s not entirely clear why Schitt’s Creek is leaving Netflix, but Metro has reached out to the streamer for comment.

Earlier this year, the show moved to HBO Max in the US, and with the platform launching recently in the UK, some think it’s heading that way. InsertObligatoryPun said on Reddit he presumed it would be ‘getting shifted’ there.

The series, created by the central father-son duo (on and off screen), first premiered on CBC in Canada. It was then picked up in the US by Pop TV before streaming on NetflixUK in 2017.

It was during Covid-19 that the show hit stratospheric levels of popularity, as viewers realised this was the perfect light-hearted watch during a time of intense uncertainty.

How have fans reacted?

Fans on Reddit are understandably devastated.

Realistic-Weight-959 cried out: ‘Nooo I’ve been watching it there once a year, idk what to do now.’

This sentiment was echoed multiple times on the discussion site. Forbidden-cat12 said: ‘This is genuinely the worst news I’ve heard. I only discovered the show recently and am on my like 5th rewatch. Schitts is my comfort show and I genuinely think I’ll be lost without it.’

While Cheezboorgir asked: ‘Sorry???? Where the hell am I supposed to watch it after that??’
