Star, 45, Vulnerably Opens Up After 4 Rounds of Cancer Surgeries

Olivia Munn recently shared a deeply personal milestone: the first time she felt beautiful after undergoing multiple breast cancer surgeries.

Munn, 45, was originally diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in April 2023.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, she addressed the first time she felt like herself again following her health battle.

The Moment Munn Felt Pretty Again

After four rounds of surgery, she admitted she wasn’t feeling herself and hadn’t felt pretty in months.

But she decided to push past those feelings and attend friend James Marsden’s 50th birthday party in September 2023.

“I was not feeling like myself and feeling pretty or anything like that, but I thought this was a great opportunity for me to get dressed up and go somewhere and just see how I feel,” Munn recalled during the interview.

She went all out for the evening, glamming up for the celebration.

“I got all glammed up and did everything, and I was like, ‘Okay, I feel my best.’ And I went to his party, and it was such a fun party, and I had such a great time,” she said.

The night ended up being even more special for Munn.

Munn Opened Up About When Mulaney Proposed

Her now-husband, comedian John Mulaney, ended up proposing at their hotel.

Reflecting on the proposal, Munn shared, “He was like, ‘I knew that you would want to feel really great, and I wanted to give you that moment. I didn’t know when it would be, but when you said you wanted to go to this birthday party and give yourself a chance to get dressed up, I thought, ‘This is the perfect time to do it.’”

She added, “So, it’s like, if I didn’t go to that party, he would have eventually proposed, but it would not have happened that day, in that moment, and it was just such a perfect, perfect moment.”

Munn and Mulaney tied the knot the following July, marking a joyful milestone after a challenging year.

The couple has since become parents to two children, balancing family life with their busy careers.

Munn has previously opened up about becoming a mom. She turned to surrogacy to have her second child as she was in the middle of her cancer battle.

She noted back in 2025, “It’s so crazy to think that I’m sitting here with two amazing babies. I’m just so happy and grateful, and I’m really proud of what I’ve been able to do. I didn’t know how much strength I had inside me.”
