Tess Daly keeps wedding ring on at Wimbledon weeks after Vernon Kay split

Tess Daly kept her wedding ring firmly on as she kicked off the celebrity arrivals on the first day at this year’s Wimbledon.

The former Strictly Come Dancing presenter, 57, was seen still sporting her wedding ring while enjoying a solo day at the star-studded tennis tournament.

Wearing a white lace gown and chic aviator-style sunglasses, the TV star beamed while sporting the jewellery from her former husband Vernon Kay, who she split from in May.

After posing for photos, Tess was joined by singer Ronan Keating in the royal box where they chatted away on centre court alongside his wife Storm.

In previous years Tess has had Vernon, 52, alongside her to watch the tennis, but the couple stunned fans by announcing that, after over two decades of marriage they are divorcing.

The TV golden couple met in 2001 when they were working on rival channels; Vernon was hosting Channel 4’s T4 while Tess presented SMTV on ITV.

Vernon proposed on Christmas Day in 2002 at Tess’ parents’ home, and they tied the knot the following year at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Horwich, near Bolton.

In 2004, they welcomed their first daughter, Phoebe, and a second, Amber, in 2009.

The stars took to social media with a joint statement earlier this year, writing: ‘After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably.

‘This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire for what is best for both of us.

‘We remain great friends and most importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority.’

They concluded: ‘There are no other parties involved in this decision.

‘We kindly ask for privacy during this time as we navigate this transition together.

‘We will not be making any further public comments.’

Meanwhile it was a full day of glamour at SW19 as the tournament kicked off in style, with Maura Higgins, Pixie Lott, Romeo Beckham and his girlfriend Kim Turnbull all in attendance.

His dad, David Beckham, was also seen sat in the royal box alongside his mother Sandra, who later enjoyed a sweet catchup with Mary Berry. 

Newly-announced Strictly Come Dancing star Chris Appleton was also joined by Amanda Holden and AJ Odudu as they enjoyed a catchup in the Evian Mountain of Youth VIP Suite.
