Patrick Muldoon passed away at his home in Beverly Hills on Sunday, April 19. The actor, beloved for his roles in “Days of Our Lives” and “Melrose Place,” died suddenly from a heart attack. He was 57.

The actor was unmarried at the time of his passing, but he was in a relationship with his partner, Miriam Rothbart, with whom he lived. He gave a glimpse into his relationship with posts on Instagram. On August 25, 2025, he celebrated two years with his girlfriend and posted a photo of them smiling together.

In December 2025, he posted a photo on Instagram from a trip to Aspen, which actress Denise Richards reacted to. She wrote, “You guys look so cute.” Richards and Muldoon famously dated in the ’90s and remained friends.

Muldoon is survived by his partner, his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr., his sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, and her family. He was also an uncle to Muldoon-Zappa’s two children, niece Halo and nephew Arrow Zappa, Deadline reports.  He was close to his family, celebrating them on social media, including a loving message for his father, whom he called “pops.”

In a birthday post on April 7, 2025, Muldoon celebrated his dad. “We love you pops. Grateful to have this guy as our rock in this life love love love you!!,” he wrote.

The actor was described by his friends in a statement to Deadline as “endlessly generous — with his poetry, his humor, and his unmistakable presence.” He “loved animals and people alike, gave unforgettable hugs, and possessed a rare quality of making others feel safe and seen. Stylish, charismatic, and full of life, he embraced each day with a full-tilt, rock ’n’ roll spirit.” It is clear from this statement alone that he will be dearly missed.

What Happened To Patrick Muldoon?

Muldoon and his partner had spent time together at their Beverly Hills home the morning of his passing. He went for a shower, and that is when he tragically suffered a heart attack, Muldoon’s sister, Muldoon-Zappa said, TMZ reports.

“Patrick went to take a shower Sunday morning after drinking coffee with his girlfriend in their Beverly Hills home,” TMZ reports. “His girlfriend decided to check on him after he was taking too long and found him unconscious on bathroom floor … Paramedics rushed over and tried to revive Patrick, according to Shana, but there was nothing anyone could do.”
