The Simpsons accidentally put porn in most recent Halloween Special

The Simpsons is well known for pushing boundaries with its comedy.

While it may seem quaint by today’s standards, Bart’s swearing, Homer embracing atheism, and the family’s general dysfunction were all seen as testing the limits of good taste back in the 90s.

In recent years, though, The Simpsons has gained a reputation for playing it safe compared to more provocative adult cartoons like South Park, Rick and Morty, and even Family Guy.

Still, The Simpsons’ annual Halloween special proves that the good folks of Springfield haven’t lost their ability to shock … even if it was unintentional.

In the Treehouse of Horror XXXVII, which aired on October 25, Bart and Lisa take a trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) while on their hunt for Homer.

In one of the establishing shots, we see a sign outside the building which reads ‘our-website-is-broken.org’.

This was presumably meant to be a classic Simpsons’ sign gag about the inefficiencies of the DMV and how rubbish the US government is – jokes are always funny when you have to explain them.

Unfortunately, someone somewhere in The Simpsons office made a bit of a boo-boo-urns.

They didn’t register the domain name, and their mistake was one internet prankster’s triumph.

This anonymous trickster bought the URL and set up a website which linked to Simpsons porn.

That’s right, we’re talking about P. O. R. N! In front of the C. H. I. L. D. R. E. N!

Specifically, it linked to an animated topless image of Marge Simpson’s sisters, Patty and Selma (My eyes! The goggles do nothing!).

What’s worse, apparently, if you clicked the image (presumably to get directions on how to get away from the website) it would play a remix of Who Let The Barts Out?” and play a montage of more Simpsons porn.

The link has now been deactivated, but in the darker corners of the internet (Specifically X) people are still talking about it.

Speaking of which, plenty of users on there did spot the mistake and have been joking about it online.

‘Why in the hell is this in a REAL Simpsons episode?’ asked @GibGibGuyGuy. ‘Don’t visit the link; it’s literally just porn.’

‘Always, always, ALWAYS pre-register a web domain before you put it on TV,’ advised @TSwanyIRL.

‘I don’t know what I was expecting to see going there,’ joked @j_drain. ‘But I certainly wasn’t expecting that lol.’

Metro has approached Disney for comment.
