Season 3 Keeps Circling the Mystery With Colter’s Father

At the center of everything this season is still Colter Shaw’s search for the truth about his father. That storyline has been hanging over him for a while now, but Season 3 has taken it further by slowly stacking new clues into the mix without rushing the reveal.

The interesting part is how controlled the pacing has been. Instead of dumping answers, the show keeps nudging Colter (and the audience) a little closer, then pulling back just enough to keep the tension alive. It feels like the finale is absolutely going to matter here, especially with how many threads are now pointing toward a larger picture.

Reenie’s (Fiona Rene) arc has also added a heavier emotional layer to the season. After what she went through earlier in Season 3, she’s been trying to steady herself while still showing up for work and the people around her. The show hasn’t rushed her recovery or wrapped it in a neat bow, which actually makes her storyline feel more honest. She’s still in it, still pushing forward, but clearly carrying a lot underneath.

On the other hand, Randy (Chris Lee) continues to be one of the show’s most quietly fun additions, especially after getting a more featured episode where he helped a hacker friend. It gave him a chance to step outside the usual support role and added a bit of variety to the season’s pacing.

Ever since Mel (Cassady McClincy Zhang) joined Reenie’s team, viewers have been split between “she’s fine” and “something is absolutely going on here.” Reddit in particular has turned her into a whole discussion topic all on her own.

One fan wrote:

“She’s definitely sus. She has either an evil agenda or she’s just a psycho. Definitely creeps me out.”

Another added:

“Yeah, same. I’ve felt this way about her from day one and I still feel like she’s shady or up to something so idk lol. I still don’t fully trust her.”

Some viewers think the issue isn’t even the character’s behavior: it’s how she’s been introduced into the story.

“Everyone is suspicious of her because they have done a terrible job of integrating her into the cast. She’s never met Colter and just shows up to bring coffee. We know little to nothing about the girl.”

Episode 20, titled “Reclamation,” looks like it’s continuing the show’s trend of connecting cases in unexpected ways.

“Colter’s search for a woman who went missing from a rehab facility takes an unexpected turn when he runs into Billie”

Billie (played by Justin Hartley’s real-life wife, Sofia Pernas) has always worked well as a rival rewardist presence in the series; someone who mirrors Colter in certain ways while still operating with her own agenda. Her return usually signals that things are about to get a little more complicated, and this episode seems to be leaning into that dynamic again.

Kathleen Robertson is also expected to return as Maxine, which adds another familiar presence into the mix. With multiple returning characters in play, “Reclamation” feels like it’s setting up pieces that will matter beyond just a single episode.

The episode airs Sunday, May 10, 2026 at 9:00pm ET on CBS and streams the next day on Paramount+.

The Finale Starts Locking Everything Into Place

• Episode 21, “Chrono Stasis,” follows Colter and Russell as they unite “in a personal mission to uncover their father’s mysterious work,” according to CBS.

• Episode 22, “The Best Ones,” continues that thread as the brothers search “for a victim of a nefarious research project,” also according to CBS.

So instead of just wrapping up seasonal cases, the show is clearly pushing toward answers tied directly to Colter’s past; and possibly reshaping what we think we know about everything that’s happened so far.
