Victoria Beckham Breaks Silence on Heartbreaking Rift with Son Brooklyn

Victoria Beckham opened up for the first time about her ongoing rift with son Brooklyn Beckham in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

The Spice Girls icon and her husband, David Beckham, have been on the outs with Brooklyn since his and Nicole Peltz Beckham’s wedding in April 2022; however, things began to escalate in January after years of tension.

While talking with the WSJ, Victoria explained how all she and David want for their four kids is to protect them and make sure they know they are loved.

“I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much,” the Beckham matriarch said. “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”

At the core of the Beckham rift is Brooklyn’s claim that his parents made many attempts to sabotage his relationship with his wife. In January, Brooklyn took to his Instagram Story to share a pointed message about not wanting to mend things with his mom and dad because of their alleged need to control him.

“I have been silent for years and have made every attempt to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed,” Brooklyn said, People reported. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

After Brooklyn made his intentions clear, his dad addressed their broken relationship during an appearance on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” by alluding to social media having a negative impact on their family.

“I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media. For the good and for the bad,” David said. “I’ve tried to do the same with my children, to educate them. They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids. You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”
