A star from Virgin Island is pregnant just 11 months after appearing on the controversial Channel 4 show.
Holly Stark took part in the inaugural season of the series which sees 12 adult virgins embark on an intimacy course while staying at a Mediterranean retreat.
Nearly a year later, and Holly is pregnant with her first child.
She announced the news on Instagram with some baby scan pictures, writing: ‘Baby Grant ❤️ Due August 2026.’
Her joint post with boyfriend David, who she uploaded to the grid back in December last year, was received warmly by her followers – some of whom also appeared in the series.
One of the commenters was Thomas Lewis, a participant from season one. Under the sonogram shots, he wrote: ‘Congratulations, you’re going to be a great mum! ❤️ X.’
Dr Danielle Harel, a sex and relationships expert who features on Virgin Island, exclaimed: ‘Wow, this is amazing! Congratulations, sweetie! 💜’
Holly’s new-found pal from the show, Taylor Marie Wilde, also joined in with the well wishes. She said: ‘So proud of you! 🩷🩷🩷 You’re doing amazing! 🎉🩷🥰.’
Holly and Taylor recently posted a video throwing it back to moments on the Channel 4 programme. In particular, when Holly says, ‘I am bisexual, and I’m proud’, and Taylor tells a therapist: ‘I think I might not like men, like at all.’
Fast forward to now, and the girls are asked: ‘Is there anything you’d like to share?’
Holly responds, touching her belly: ‘I think it’s kind of obvious.’
Taylor then jokes, ‘Oh you got fat’, causing the girls to erupt into fits of giggles.
The show, which is back for a new season, sparked debate at the time of release.
Some questioned the techniques used with the participants which involved ‘surrogate partner therapists’, and were shocked that the sex scenes were being aired on screen.
What does Metro TV Editor think of the new season of Virgin Island?
Sabrina Barr, Metro TV Editor, went to a screening for Virgin Island season two – she said:
‘Controversial it may be, there’s no denying the impact it’s made on audiences watching at home. The virgins who go on the show are not weird, despite feeling that way – so many of their issues are common, but they’re just treated as taboo by society and not spoken about enough.
‘As the sex therapists explained at the screening, many who struggle in secret have no idea that they don’t have to, that there is help out there available to them.
‘Even if some of the people watching at home can’t relate to the hardship of wanting to be sexually active but not knowing how to get there, they might see themselves represented through other insecurities that are addressed on the programme, such as body image issues or not feeling as though they’re enough.’
Now it’s returning for a second instalment, and 12 new young people will be partaking in the experimental show.
After the success of the first series, Virgin Island Commissioning Editor, Jonah Weston, said: ‘It’s been such a thrill to watch this show catch fire. This is a live issue among young people, and from the brave cast to our wonderful experts I don’t think I’ve ever worked on anything quite so bold, warm and well-intentioned.’
Virgin Island season 2 premieres on Monday April 27 at 9pm on Channel 4.
