A new generation steps into Gilead, and this time, they’re starting to question everything. “The Testaments,” the highly anticipated sequel to “The Handmaid’s Tale,” has officially arrived, picking up years after the original series and shifting focus to the daughters raised inside the regime. With fresh faces, returning characters, and a new perspective on power and control, here’s exactly when and where you can watch every episode of “The Testaments” as it rolls out.

When Does ‘The Testaments’ Premiere?

The first three episodes of “The Testaments” were released on Hulu on April 8, 2026.

While the show is a sequel to “The Handmaid’s Tale,” the show’s creator, Bruce Miller, said this new show wouldn’t just be a repeat of the original.

He told The Hollywood Reporter, ”We tried not to make the same show — it’s got younger voices, it’s got a completely different feel and a completely different vibe, but it’s still Gilead.”

Miller likened it to “‘Mean Girls’ growing up in Gilead.”

Where Can You Watch ‘The Testaments’?

New episodes of “The Testaments” will be available to stream on Hulu. As stated above, the first three episodes of this new show are available to stream right now.

Moving forward, one new episode will be released each week on Hulu at 3 a.m. ET.

How Many Episodes Will There Be?

For this first season of “The Testaments,” there will be 10 episodes. If all goes well on Hulu, Miller said he would expect the series to be anywhere from 30 to 50 episodes total.

As far as the episodes go, the first three were released on April 8. From there, Hulu will release one new episode each week until the season finale, which is set for May 27.

Here is the complete release schedule for “The Testaments”:

  • April 15: “Green Tea”
  • April 22: “Ball”
  • April 29: “Stadium”

What Is the Premise of ‘The Testaments’?

Like “The Handmaid’s Tale,” this new show was also adapted from Margaret Atwood’s novel series. “The Testaments” follows a new generation of young women trapped inside the Republic of Gilead.

In an interview with Oprah Daily in September 2019, Atwood said, “I wanted to explore the beginning of the end of Gilead. How did these things fall apart? That idea fascinated me.”

“The Testaments” will take place four years after the downfall of Boston in the final season of “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

Per the show’s official synopsis, it follows “a group of privileged teenage daughters of commanders who are preparing to become wives to the state’s most powerful men.”

Ann Dowd will reprise her role as Aunt Lydia alongside stars Chase Infiniti, known for her breakout role in “One Battle After Another,” and Lucy Halliday.
