It’s only been a month, but Saturday Night Live UK has already become one of the most talked-about shows across the nation.

The newly launched Sky programme, which follows in the footsteps of its American predecessor, boasts a cast of talented comedians, such as Emma Sidi, Jack Shep, Annabel Marlow and George Fouracres.

There’s high demand for tickets for people to be in the live audience – but tonight, the studio will be empty, as the series is on a one-week break.

Here’s all you need to know about the show, including why it’s not on tonight, and who the upcoming hosts will be.

Why is SNL UK not on this week?

This week, Saturday Night Live UK is taking a break for the first time since it launched on March 21.

What are your thoughts on SNL UK so far?

  • I love it, it’s hilarious!Check
  • I don’t find it funnyCheck
  • I haven’t been watching itCheck

But fear not, because the show will return with a brand new batch of satirical skits in a week.

While Sky hasn’t announced a definitive reason why there’s a mid-season hiatus, it follows the same pattern as the US show, when cast members, writers and other production crew members can have a break.

Several SNL UK stars have implied that they’re going to take the week off to rest, with Paddy Young writing on Instagram: ‘Off to bed for a bit.’

Larry Dean added: ‘Going to miss these legends on our week off. Best people on and off screen 💚.’

Meanwhile, Al Nash wrote: ‘|Maybe the real SNL UK episodes 1-4 were the friends we made along the way 💖 lucky lucky lad to be a part of such an amazing team 🥲

‘Week off now to attempt to sleep and sort out my newly developed athlete’s foot 💋.’

Who is hosting the rest of the series?

After this weekend’s break, the fifth show, due to air on Saturday April 25, will be hosted by Nicola Coughlan, with the Foo Fighters appearing as the musical guest.

People who’ve been watching SNL UK since the start will remember that the Bridgerton star actually made a cameo in episode one, which was hosted by Tina Fey.

Episode six, which is due to air on Saturday May 2, will be hosted by Aimee Lou Wood, with musical guest MEEK.

SNL fans are especially happy that The White Lotus star will be hosting, given the ridicule she faced by the US version of the show during a ‘mean’ skit last year.

There will then be two more episodes of the series, airing on Saturday May 9 and Saturday May 16, but the celebrity hosts are yet to be announced.

Is it still possible to get tickets to a recording?

While members of the public can get their hands on tickets for SNL UK, on Sky’s website, it states: ‘Audience applications are now fully subscribed for season one.’

How have the viewing figures been?

According to Deadline, the fourth episode of SNL UK, which aired on Saturday April 11, was watched by 120,000 viewers on the night, a 1.6% share of TV-watching Brits.

The previous week, 130,000 viewers tuned in for episode three, according to official overnight BARB figures supplied by overnights.tv.

However, this doesn’t take into account the people watching it on catch-up, not to mention the views that clips from the programme can clock up when shared on social media.

The Prince Andrew Cold Open sketch, which aired two weeks ago, has 2.3million views on YouTube, while the Melania Trump skit from last week has 1.5m views.
