The man who said he owns the Bears isn’t going away quite yet.
Aaron Rodgers agreed Saturday night to return to the Steelers on a one-year deal. He’ll make up to $25 million, per ESPN, and give new head coach Mike McCarthy an established starter.
Rodgers was solid in his first year with the Steelers, throwing for 3,322 yards with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He went 10-6 as the starter. The lone game he missed was at Soldier Field, one week after breaking a bone in his left wrist.
The Packers traded Rodgers to the Jets in April 2023, ending his 18-year stint with the Bears’ rival. He suffered a season-ending injury in his first game with the team and went 5-12 in his second season. The 42-year-old signed with the Steelers a year ago.
Despite the Steelers wanting an answer before the NFL draft, Rodgers waited to decide on a return. He was spotted eating ice cream with Steelers players Friday night and is expected to practice with the team next week.
The Bears do not play the Steelers this season.
