Even though Caleb Williams didn’t practice all week, head coach Ben Johnson refused to rule him out for the Bears‘ Monday night game against the Eagles.
That changed Saturday, when the team filed its final injury report of the week. As expected, Williams was ruled out.
Second-stringer Tyson Bagent, who is still emerging from concussion protocol, was called questionable. Third-stringer Case Keenum, the only healthy quarterback on the Bears’ 53-man roster, has no injury designation.
Johnson refused to give clarity on Williams’ game status before Saturday practice, saying only that he wouldn’t practice. He called Williams “week-to-week” on Monday, the morning after he pulled his hamstring in a home loss to the rival Vikings. Williams’ injury is not considered to be long-term. The Bears play the Eagles on Monday and the Jets six days later before traveling to Green Bay to play the rival Packers.
