A British serviceperson has died in a ‘road traffic incident’ in Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence has said.
The serviceperson died on Saturday, September 12, with the MoD confirming the death was ‘not the result of hostile action’.
A spokesperson said: ‘It is with deep regret that we must announce that a member of the UK Armed Forces died in a road traffic incident in Ukraine on Saturday 12th September.
‘The family have been informed and have requested a period of grace before further details are released.
‘Our thoughts and our sympathies are with the individual’s loved ones at this difficult time.’
No further details about the serviceperson or the circumstances surrounding the incident have been released.

This comes after Boris Johnson spoke out yesterday when a Russian drone strike narrowly missed a train he was riding across the Ukrainian border.
A rocket attack struck the train just minutes behind the former prime minister, who was travelling back to Poland from a security conference in Kyiv.
According to reports, there was an air raid alarm while Mr Johnson’s train was at the station.
He was, however, unharmed in the strike, which saw ‘swarms of Shaheds in the sky’ at 5am on Sunday.
Ukrainian Railways, which operates the line, said in a statement: ‘It is quite likely that the target of this Russian drone could also have been the diplomatic train, which departed from the station earlier than planned as part of the real-time review of train schedules due to the constant threat of Russian strikes.’
Johnson then took to X on Sunday to say: ‘I don’t know what warped logic drove Putin to blow up a stationary Ukrainian locomotive on the Polish border this morning.
‘What we can say for sure is that this is the kind of random and senseless attack Ukrainians are enduring every day – even on civilian railways. So far Putin has been responsible for the deaths of 1,700 staff of Ukrzaliznytsia – Ukrainian Railways. They and their daily passengers are absolutely heroic.’
