A group of at least four burglars carried out nearly 30 thefts throughout October, according to Chicago police.
In each of the 29 thefts, the burglars used rocks and sledgehammers to shatter storefront windows and took cash registers from inside before fleeing in stolen vehicles, police said.
Businesses in Beverly and Lincoln Park were the hardest hit, with West Englewood, Gresham, Brainerd and North Center among other areas impacted by the burglaries, officials said.
Thirteen of the thefts happened around 4 a.m. Oct. 27 in the 2400 and 2500 blocks of North Clark Street and an additional six occurred around 3:45 a.m. Oct. 15 in the 2100 block of West 95th Street, police said.
