One of the Cubs’ most durable players will be out for at least 10 days.
Shortstop Dansby Swanson (left oblique) left Sunday’s game against the Cardinals in the bottom of the third inning after swinging through a 0-0 Hunter Dobbins pitch. Swanson immediately grimaced in pain and was replaced by pinch-hitter James Triantos.
Manager Craig Counsell said Swanson will get an MRI on Monday and be placed on the injured list. Nico Hoerner, who shifted to shortstop in the top of the fourth, will play there during Swanson’s absence. Pedro Ramirez will get the bulk of playing time at second base.
Swanson has played in 119 of the Cubs’ 125 games.
