Disneyland offers sneak peek at new Coco boat ride
Walt Disney Imagineering offered a sneak peek during a D23 fan event in Anaheim at the world’s first Coco attraction coming to the Disneyland resort that will take riders on a journey through the colorful Land of the Dead along with the characters from the 2017 Pixar animated film.
Imagineering provided an update on the new Coco attraction coming to Disney California Adventure on Saturday, Aug. 15 during the Horizons: A Carousel of Progress showcase at the Honda Center as part of the D23 fan expo in Anaheim.

The backstory for DCA’s new Coco ride will pick up a year after the original animated film with memories central to the story.
Imagineering revealed new details about the backstory for the Coco boat ride in Pixar Pier that will travel through the fictional Mexican village of Santa Cecilia with Miguel, Hector and their family members from the Land of the Dead.
A maquette of the Hector statue that will appear in the outdoor queue area of the Coco attraction was on display in the Imagineering: Horizons pavilion on the D23 show floor.

Imagineering will draw inspiration from the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean for the new Coco attraction that will feature the latest Audio-Animatronic figures.
The new attraction is under construction on a backstage plot of underused land between Pixar Pier and Paradise Gardens.
The new Coco ride will debut after the Avenger Campus expansion currently under construction at Disney California Adventure.
