Earthquake jolts area near Hermosa Beach, Calif.: 3.5 magnitude registered on Sept. 27
A 3.6 magnitude quake shook close to Hermosa Beach, about 16.4 miles west-northwest of Long Beach, on Sunday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
At 8:40 a.m., a tremor rattled the region at a depth of 7 miles, with its epicenter about 4 miles west-southwest of Hermosa Beach.

According to the USGS DYFI report, residents in a number of cities, including Woodland Hills, Canoga Park, Los Angeles and Encino, reported experiencing the quake.
