Former U.S. Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), an outspoken advocate for Ukraine and a critic of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, is responding to Wednesday’s 90-minute phone call between Putin and President Trump.
As seen below, Kinzinger said: “Trump, after having a 90 min phone call with Putin, puts out a truth social that he is considering withdrawing all troops from Germany. Something sinister is going on between them. It’s time for ‘concerned’ Republicans to speak out.”

[NOTE: On Monday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized the Trump administration’s handling of the Iran war. He said: “The Americans obviously have no strategy” and that Iran has “humiliated” the United States. Trump responded on social media by threatening to withdraw U.S. troops in Germany, headquarters for American forces in Europe, with about 35,000 stationed there.]
About the Trump-Putin call, The New York Times reported: “More than a year of similar conversations have failed to bring the country any closer to peace, so Ukrainians have stopped hoping they will.”
According to a poll by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, almost 75 percent of Ukrainians said last month they did not believe the current U.S.-mediated negotiations would lead to lasting peace.
[NOTE: The Trump administration has reportedly been considering inviting Putin to the G20 Conference in December, which is scheduled to be held near Miami at Trump National Doral. Russia is a G20 member but has not participated fully in a G20 conference since 2019, when COVID-19 hindered participation, and did not return after its 2022 invasion of Ukraine which led the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Putin over alleged war crimes.]
