A person was killed Wednesday morning in a shooting involving an FBI agent in south suburban Dixmoor, the agency said.
The shooting happened around 7 a.m. during “court-authorized law enforcement activity,” the FBI said in a statement. The statement didn’t include the address of the incident or note whether anyone was taken into custody.
Late Wednesday morning, residents looked on as Cook County sheriff’s deputies and FBI agents blocked off the intersection of 145th Street and Cooper Avenue with vehicles and crime scene tape. There were at least 10 law enforcement officers at the scene, a residential area, as of 11 a.m.
“The FBI takes all shooting incidents involving our agents or task force members seriously,” the agency said. “In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident is under review by the FBI’s Inspection Division. As this is an ongoing matter, we have no further details to provide.”
