Even in the year of America’s semiquincentennial, it’s no easy feat to make a star-spangled motorcycle finish look entirely tasteful and free of any cheese. Indian Motorcycle has nevertheless pulled it off with the first installment of a new Signature Series featuring elevated, custom-grade finishes across four models, all of which run the American moto brand’s King of the Baggers-winning PowerPlus 112 engine.
The patriotic treatments appear on both of Indian’s touring models. The flashiest is easily the Roadmaster PowerPlus, which dons a “Frontier Pearl” white main coat that’s complemented by “Vigilant Blue” secondary accents on the majestic, war bonnet-topped valanced fender, fairing, headdress-emblazoned tank, saddlebags, and trunk. “Revere” red completes the job, tracing the blue shapes. The Indian Pursuit PowerPlus inverts the color scheme to make red the secondary accent and blue the tracer.
If such America 250-forward colorways aren’t for you, the Signature Series also includes Indian’s baggers with blended paint jobs that recall Tron racers in motion. The Chieftain PowerPlus gets an evil “Abyss Metallic” black main coat that’s highlighted with gradated “Cypher Green” and “Venom” dashes, while the Challenger PowerPlus renders them in “Red Alert” and adds a contrasting “Machined Silver” accent line that’s carried across the center of the front fairing, tank, and saddle bags.
All have 126 hp and 133 pound-feet of torque on tap courtesy of Indian’s biggest liquid-cooled V-twin, as well as a hefty rider-assist suite that features Bike Hold Control, Electronic Combined Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Tailgate Warning, and Rear Collision Warning, and SmartLean, which adjusts ABS based on the bike’s lean angle to mitigate traction loss. More tech comes courtesy of a 7-inch touchscreen display powered by Ride Command that offers GPS navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, bike information, and access to Ride Command+ services such as Bike Locator, Bike Health, and Apple CarPlay that sounds through the PowerBand audio system.
