SAN FRANCISCO — Chris Mañon scored 24 points and Arthur Kaluma added 16, as the Lakers put together a strong third quarter to take the lead, then held on for an 88-84 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in their final game of the California Classic summer league event.
Mañon, who is on a two-way contract for the Lakers (2-1), shot 7 for 10 from the field, 2 for 3 from 3-point range and 6 for 8 from the free-throw line while adding eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocked shots in 27 minutes.
Rookie Cameron Carr, a first-round draft pick out of Baylor last month, was held to five points on 2-for-7 shooting (0 for 2 from 3-point range) in just 13 minutes.
The Lakers trailed 46-38 at halftime before outscoring the Spurs 27-16 in the third quarter.
Ja’Kobi Gillespie had 19 points and six assists to pace the Spurs (0-3). RJ Davis had 18 points, Tarris Reed Jr. had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Emmanuel Miller added 14 points and seven rebounds.
The Lakers next head to Las Vegas for the league-wide summer league event, with their first game scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
