A Palatine man was charged Monday with fatally hitting a pedestrian with his car on Interstate 80 and fleeing the scene last month in south suburban Lansing.
Illinois State Police arrested 29-year-old Kuljeet Singh Kang for reckless homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal injury crash, the department said in a statement.
Sebastian Stone, a 23-year-old Carpentersville resident, was changing a tire around 5:30 a.m. on June 28 on the side of the highway near Torrence Avenue, according to state police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Kang hit Stone and fled, state police said. Stone was pronounced dead at the scene. Kang was arrested two days later. He is in Cook County jail awaiting his first court appearance, state police said.
