Man fatally shot in Oakland

OAKLAND — A 36-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon in the Jingletown area, authorities said.

His name has not yet been released pending notification of his family.  Police said he was an Oakland resident.

The shooting happened about 3:36 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Kennedy Street, south of Interstate 880.

The man was found with at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police have not released a motive for the killing.  No arrests have been announced.

The killing is the 21st homicide investigated by Oakland police this year.  Last year at this time police had investigated  27 homicides in the city.
