At least five people were hospitalized after a police-involved shooting Monday night in Uptown, police said.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability responded to the scene in the 1400 block of West Argyle Street, according to a post on X around 9:10 p.m.
Three officers were taken to a nearby hospital in good condition, police spokesperson Tom Ahern said at the scene. Two people were shot, one by a Chicago police officer, and taken to nearby hospitals in serious condition, according to Ald. Andre Vasquez (40th), whose ward covers the scene.
Evidence markers delineated at least six shell casings on Argyle Street as numerous officers responded to the scene. Around a dozen people gathered around the scene, and some couldn’t get back to their homes that were inside the perimeter cordoned off by crime scene tape.
Other details, including what led up to the shooting, were unclear.
Anyone with information on the shooting should contact COPA at 312-746-3609 or chicagocopa.org.
