During the argument, the other man shot the 63-year-old, hitting him multiple times. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name has not been released by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Officers chased the other man, finding him in the 1400 block of West Argyle Street. During the pursuit, the man “turned and raised his firearm in the direction of officers,” causing officers to shoot him, the police statement said.
Officers rendered aid and he was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was in critical condition, police said.
Three officers were taken a hospital for observation and are listed in good condition. A gun was recovered on the scene.
