A man was arrested on suspicion of igniting some small grass fires on Saturday, Sept. 12 near a freeway transition road in Sherman Oaks, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol at 8:36 a.m. closed the transition road linking the southbound 405 Freeway to the westbound 101 Freeway due to a report of a brush fire near the transition road, the CHP reported.
Firefighters dispatched to the location found five separate spot fires, all approximately five feet in diameter, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“(An) arson suspect was found on scene and is now in custody with (the) CHP. Arson units are responding and the park rangers are responding,” said Jamie Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. “Fire units are on scene and are actively ensuring that all hot spots are out.”
There was no other immediate information.
