The evacuation zone around GKN Aerospace plant was reduced 65% late Monday, May 25, after officials announced the threat of a highly destructive BLEVE – boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion – had been avoided.

Evacuation centers are set up in Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, La Palma and Los Alamitos.

All ramps and exits along the 22 Freeway are open in the area.
Under California’s definition, an evacuation order means there is an “immediate threat to life,” and is considered “a lawful order to leave now.” Any area under an evacuation order is closed to the public.
