A man has been charged in the fatal shooting of a 74-year-old man Friday in Auburn Gresham, according to Chicago police.
Elijah Winsley, 20, faces a charge of murder, police said. He was arrested hours after the shooting took place about a mile away from the scene.
A motive was not given for the shooting attack that unfolded as senior Fred Winsley was inside a residence in the 8100 block of South Laflin Street — the same block where Elijah Winsley lives — about 1:30 p.m. Friday, Chicago police said.
The younger Winsley allegedly shot the elder Winslely twice and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Winsley was due in court Monday.
