The internet has been gripped by Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial as it fast approaches its closing statements.

The mother of three killed her three children – Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan – with resistance bands while her ex-husband Patrick Clancy was running errands.

While she does not deny killing the children, Clancy’s lawyer argues she should not be held criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and taking powerful drugs to cope with depression at the time.

People have been avidly following the trial on social media, sharing their thoughts and feelings as testimonies have been given.

One strange outcome from the case so far is how a section of the internet has latched onto Clancy’s lawyer, Kevin Reddington, heaping praise on him and hailing him a ‘legend.’

On X, user Corn Pope wrote: ‘Kevin Reddington brought me to tears today with his FIERCE advocacy!!! I ADORE this man & this man genuinely loves Lindsay Clancy (his words & it show).’

Kaatielouuise said she will be ‘sad when he leaves our screens,’ while FreeKarenRead3 called him ‘our favourite human’ and ‘masterful and without an equal.’

J3nnyb00m added: ‘I’ve known Kevin’s family since I was 13 years old.. Kevin is a NO NONSENSE kinda man, and he doesn’t mince words! He is blunt, he is direct and he walks on egg shells around NO ONE!

‘But, on the flip side, he is a husband, he is a father and he is a grandfather (an amazing one at that) .. so to see this man, treat Lindsay with the compassion he has thus far, to see him wrap his arms around her, it is really no surprise to me.. This is who he is, THIS IS KEVIN REDDINGTON!’

BobMcGovern Jr called him ‘one of the best defense attorneys in Massachusetts,’ and he wasn’t alone in his observation.

Suzybeau1 thinks he is a ‘compassionate man and superb lawyer.’ while many simply labelled him ‘the GOAT (greatest of all time).’

Who is Kevin Reddington?

Kevin Reddington, 75, first began practicing law in 1975 after graduating from Suffolk Law School in Boston.

He is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, which is reserved for only one-quarter of 1% of the trial lawyers in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain.

In 2006, he was named the best criminal defense attorney in the state by Boston Magazine.

So committed is Reddington to the law that he has two tattoos on his shoulder in Latin translating to ‘Never represent an informant,’ and ‘Come and take them.’

The lawyer is no stranger to high-profile cases, having hit headlines several times over the decades.

In 1989, Reddington represented Therese Rogers at trial, who killed her boyfriend, Walter Quinn, by repeatedly stabbing him in the eyes while he was asleep.

Rogers’ team did not dispute that she killed Quinn, but argued she was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after she and her daughter had suffered months of physical and sexual abuse.

Rogers was acquitted of killing her boyfriend in what was one of the first successful ‘battered woman syndrome’ defences.

In 1998, Reddington defended former Boston Red Sox first baseman Mo Vaughn, who was acquitted of drunk driving in 1998.

Police charged him with operating a vehicle under the influence, but Reddington argued that the reason he failed the eight field sobriety tests was because of a knee injury.

Reddington drew national attention in 2003 when he represented Reverend Ronald Paquin, a Catholic priest who pleaded guilty to the rape of a Haverhill altar boy.

Paquin was the first archdiocese member to plead guilty to sexually abusing a minor and was sentenced to 12 to 15 years in prison.

Much like the Rogers case, in 2007, Reddington represented Dr. Ann Marie Gryboski, a physician who shot and killed her husband.

He argued that Gryboski was a victim of domestic abuse and that she acted in self-defense, with the case never going to trial and the grand jury not indicting her on any charges.

Other clients he has represented include James ‘Whitey’ Bulger girlfriend Catherine Greig when they were caught after 16 years on the run; Matthew Potter, who was charged with manslaughter in the death of a Quincy man and three other assault charges; and Zhan Ting ‘Andy’ Huang, one of two brothers convicted in connection with a 2009 Quincy fire that killed three.

Outside of work, Reddington is married to his wife, Debbie, and he has four adult children.

In the Lindsay Clancy trial, he has captured the attention of those following due to his fierce interogations.

He got into a particularly heated exchange this week with Dr Avram Mack, which ended with Reddington asking ‘what he was smiling for’ and assuring ‘this is not funny, sir.’

Speaking about the trial, he has said no matter the verdict, it will not provide a happy ending for Clancy.

‘She’s living her own hell. She knows what happened with those kids, and she wanted to die when she was in the hospital,’ he said.

The trial continues.
