Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has reassured Manchester City fans that he will play his strongest team against Arsenal on the final day of the Premier League season.

The title race looks likely to come down to the last weekend, although it could actually be sewn up by the Gunners before then.

Arsenal host Burnley on Monday night, with Manchester City going to Bournemouth on Tuesday. Ahead of those games, the Gunners are two points ahead of their closest rivals.

It may well be that Mikel Arteta’s men still need a result on the final weekend and that sees them travelling across London to take on Crystal Palace.

The Eagles have nothing to play for domestically, but do have the UEFA Conference League final three days after they play Arsenal, against Rayo Vallecano.

Gunners fans will hope their focus is elsewhere, but Glasner says he will not be resting players ahead of the meeting with the Spanish side.

Minutes will be managed, but Arsenal can expect to be lining up against the strongest Palace team.

Speaking to the BBC after a 2-2 draw with Brentford on Sunday, Glasner said: ‘This is what I said at the press conference before Brentford and everybody saw today. We had a mid-week game against Manchester City, we had the mid-week game last week.

‘Players are fit, players are fresh. We have now one week’s time. Players have two days off to really to relax, to recharge, then we will meet on Wednesday to prepare for the final eight or nine days and so we will play the strongest team against Arsenal.

‘We do it for us, we don’t do it for City or for Arsenal, we do it for us, for Crstal Palace and we do it for our fans. It’s the last game at Selhurst, they deserve to see a top performance.

‘This is what we want to show against Arsenal. Of course we will manage the minutes a little bit because we have to. But that doesn’t change anything.’

Palace defenders Chadi Riad, Maxence Lacroix and Chris Richards all suffered fitness issues during the draw with the Bees, with Richards the only one leaving the manager worried.

‘Chadi Riad felt some cramp, Maxence Lacroix I think somebody pokes his eye and it was a little bit blurry.

‘Then Chris Richards twisted his ankle, it’s quite swollen to be honest, so him I have a little bit of conern for the next couple of days.

‘But Chadi Riad and Maxence will be fine but we have to do further assessment on Chris Richards.’

Manchester City’s final game of the Premier League season is at home to Aston Villa, four days after the Villains play Freiburg in the Europa League final.
