Dusty May’s Wife Anna May — Couple Has Touching Personal Story

Dusty May and his wife Anna May are in the spotlight at the Final Four on Saturday, April 4, when the No. 1 seed Michigan Wolverines take on the No. 1 seed Arizona Wildcats. Two teams are playing, but just one will advance to the championship game.

Dusty and Anna are actually high school sweethearts. The couple is from Bloomfield, Indiana, and got married in 2000. Dusty’s coaching career has taken him all over the United States, and Anna, an occupational therapist, has been with him the whole way, including his gigs in Louisiana, California, Florida and now Michigan. The couple has three sons: Jack, Charlie and Eli.

Family is Important to Dusty May and His Wife Anna May

Even though Dusty is a busy head coach, family is important to him. When he took the job at the University of Michigan in 2004, Brian White, vice president and director of athletics at Florida Atlantic University, said that he was happy for the coach.

“I am genuinely happy for Dusty, his wife Anna and their children Jack, Charlie and Eli, who have been so important to the Boca Raton community over their six years here in Paradise and will forever be FAU family,” White said in a statement at the time.

President Stacy Volnick added, “Dusty’s successes on the court and his wonderful personality off the court exemplified Florida Atlantic’s values. Furthermore, what his and the team’s performances have done to elevate, not only the basketball program, but the entire university’s profile, cannot be understated.” She added, “While I am sad to see Dusty leave, I sincerely wish him well.”

May also sounded genuine when he left Florida, stating, “I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish here, together, with our fans and alumni, but most importantly our players and staff. These guys gave us everything they had and they will forever be family to me. Each one of them made me a better coach.”

Dusty May and His Wife Anna May Are Private

Dusty and Anne are fairly private people, and you won’t see Anna making headlines with bold statements amid games. There’s nothing wrong with being private, and that’s just the nature of this couple.

When Dusty got the Wolverine gig, though, he was thrust into the spotlight. At the time, the University of Michigan’s Donald R. Shepherd director of athletics Warde Manuel sang the new coach’s praises.

“For almost two decades Dusty May’s proven track record as a winner, including Florida Atlantic’s magical run to a 2023 Final Four, speaks volumes about him and his coaching,” Manuel said in a statement. “We are so delighted to welcome Dusty, and his family, to the University of Michigan. He embodies the values of high integrity and outstanding character, coupled with an unparalleled understanding of the game of basketball.”

Manual added that with the coach’s connection to the Midwest, “Dusty has a deep understanding of our community, recruiting landscape and basketball tradition. I am thrilled to bring in a coach who has a demonstrated ability to develop talent and build successful programs.”
