He initially agreed to stay at the club by negotiating a contract extension, but officials withdrew the deal before it was signed.

Almost a year on from his dramatic departure, De Gea is still yet to find a new club.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest, Newcastle and the Saudi Pro League in recent months.

But he is still waiting for the perfect move.

De Gea has been training alone since last summer while biding his time.

And he took to Instagram this week to give fans an update.

The goalkeeper posted a video of himself training with a three-word caption that read: “I’ll be back.”

De Gea has recently been linked with a free transfer to La Liga side Real Betis.

Manuel Pellegrini and his team side are planning to contact the former United star’s representatives regarding his situation.

The Spaniard will likely have to lower his demands considering his age and the fact he’s been out of the game for a year.
