Silva will be a free agent in July when his contract with Manchester Cityexpires at the end of the month and the Portugal international has looked destined for a move to La Liga with both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid interested.
However, Marca reports that Silva has reached a verbal agreement to join Madrid and both parties are aiming to finalise the transfer before Portugal’s World Cup opener against DR Congo next Wednesday.
The report adds that Jose Mourinho, who has returned to Madrid after Florentino Perez was re-elected as president last Sunday, personally requested the signing of Silva.
