The San Antonio Spurs took care of business in their Monday night (April 6) game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Despite the 115-102 win over Philly, the Spurs had a big question mark heading into the locker room at the end of the night.
What’s going on with Victor Wembanyama?
After just 16 minutes of action, the Spurs lost Wembanyama for the night. He was ruled out with a rib injury.
With his night ending when it did, Wembanyama finished the game with 17 points on 7-11 shooting from the field. He also came down with five rebounds, produced one assist, and blocked one shot. He was a plus-seven leaving the game.

Following the game, here’s what Mitch Johnson had to say about Wembanyama’s early exit:
via Underdog on X: Coach Johnson when asked if he has an update on Victor Wembanyamaâs rib injury:
“No. I think it would be a positive that he felt like he could come back and he played the last four or five minutes in the [first] half. So, that’s a positive from my perspective.”
After Wembanyama left the game, the Spurs closed out the night on top.
Stephon Castle wrapped up the game with 19 points in 31 minutes. He shot 6-13 from the field, racking up a triple-double with 13 assists and 10 rebounds.
The Spurs landed a 17-point outing from Dylan Harper off the bench. The rookie went 7-11 from the field, making all three of his threes. The star guard De’Aron Fox was quietly productive, putting up 13 points on 50% shooting from the field. He also had four assists and two steals.

The initial postgame “update” seems promising, but there’s uncertainty, based on Johnson’s comment.
Wembanyama adds another ailment to the list down the stretch of the season. He recently dealt with ankle soreness, which took him off the court for the Spurs’ April 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers.

When Wembanyama returned for the April 4 game against the Denver Nuggets, he produced 34 points, 18 rebounds, and seven assists in the 136-134 loss.
With Wembanyama’s minutes set to increase in the playoffs, the Spurs need to make sure he’s in the best possible shape and is healthy as can be. After some testing, the Spurs should have a detailed update soon enough.
The Spurs will take the court again on Wednesday, April 8, to face the Portland Trail Blazers.
