
The cast of “Euphoria” suffered a devastating loss when actor Angus Cloud passed away in July 2023. Now, almost three years later, the show is set to return for season three. At the show’s premiere, creator Sam Levinson opened up about how the series pays tribute to the beloved actor.
Levinson spoke with Variety on the red carpet at the “Euphoria” season three premiere. During the discussion, he was asked if they honored Cloud “on set in any way.”
He responded, “I mean, there are a lot of scenes where people are either talking to him on the phone. I thought if I couldn’t keep him alive in life, then maybe within this show that I can control, I can keep him alive there.”
Levinson also stated that he “can’t wait” for people to see the “last few episodes” as Cloud would be “cracking up.” The “Euphoria” creator also said “the whole thing” was a way to honor the actor.

GettyAlso during the Variety interview, Levinson discussed “Euphoria” as a whole, noting that it’s been four years since the show’s second season. He was asked if he ever thought there may not be a third season of the beloved show.
Levinson responded, “Yeah, but I have faith. If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. I mean, obviously, there’s certain struggles that are outside of my control- strikes, things like that. Cast availability.”
He added, “And, you know, I think losing Angus was really hard for us as a production. You know, I loved him very deeply. I fought hard to keep him clean.”
Regarding Levinson’s comments about trying to keep Cloud clean, according to PEOPLE, he died as a result of acute intoxication following an accidental overdose. The “Euphoria” actor was 25 when he passed away on July 31, 2023.

GettyShe responded, “I think so.” Zendaya then said, “Closure is coming.” As fans know, the 29-year-old stars are Rue Bennett. The cast also includes Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Colman Domingo, Martha Kelly, and more.
It also features newcomers like Sharon Stone, RosalÃa, Natasha Lyonne, and Danielle Deadwyler. As of now, HBO has neither confirmed nor denied that season three of “Euphoria” will be its last.
