New Kingdom Come game will be out before April 2028 confirms Embracer Group

Warhorse’s Kingdom Come spin-off is on the fast-track for release and could be out next year, along with Darksiders 4, but not the new Lord of the Rings game.

Embracer Group has had something of a reverse Mida touch when it comes to the games industry, spending billions on buying up developers, while producing very little and then laying everyone off when things don’t work out.

It’s a sadly familiar story from across the industry but one of their few unqualified successes has been Warhorse’s two Kingdom Come games. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (which will be on PS Plus Premium next week) only came out last year, so it seems far too early to expect another sequel, and yet a new game was announced back in May.

Absolutely no information was revealed about it, but it was very specifically described as a ‘new Kingdom Come Adventure’, and not Deliverance 3. It’s still uncertain what exactly it is, but one thing we do know for sure is that it’s going to be released before April 2028.

When previously asked about the game’s release date, Czech developer Warhorse said that, ‘If everything goes right it comes next fiscal year.’ Apparently, everything has gone right, because now Embracer’s Q1 financial reports confirms that it will be out at some point between April 2027 and March 2028.

Of course, it could be delayed but the fact that Warhorse’s initial estimate still seems to be accurate is a good sign that things are going as planned. Even if that doesn’t give any clue as to what it actually is.

What the financial report does do though, is state that Darksiders 4 will also be released at some point in the same time frame. But since nothing has been said or seen of that either, it’s hard to get too excited about it – although it’s good to know that original developer Gunfire Games is still making it.

Also mentioned in the report is that real-time strategy Warhammer 40,000: Dawn Of War 4 has been delayed by three months to December 3, in order to add extra polish. That will make it one of the few games to release this year but after GTA 6, although it’s hardly the same sort of game – so that shouldn’t cause it much trouble.

In February, Embracer has Amazon co-production Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis, which is a remake of the original PS1 game. After originally being intended for release this year, it is now due on February 12.

Narrative-driven first person shooter Metro 2039 is out the same month, although it doesn’t have an exact date yet. That’s a good line-up for the next few months, especially as there are also remasters of Deus Ex and Thief: The Dark Project planned, for unconfirmed release dates.

There’s also the Lord of the Rings game which Warhorse is working on, but that isn’t mentioned in the report. That suggests it’s a long way off, which is exactly what you’d expect given Warhorse has said nothing about it and the Kingdom Come game, whatever it is, will be coming out first.
