Legendary actor Jack Nicholson has resurfaced one day after his 89th birthday.
The “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” star made a rare appearance on daughter Lorraine Nicholson’s Instagram Story on Thursday, April 23.
“¡¡ 89 !!” the 36-year-old actress shared over a new photo of her father. Nicholson was seen smiling and clapping alongside iconic singer Joni Mitchell.
Jack Nicholson’s Rare Appearance
The latest image of the “Departed” star comes months after he was last seen.
In December, Lorraine â who followed in her father’s footsteps in Hollywood â shared a series of photos from the family’s holiday gatherings.
She captioned her December 4, 2025, photo dump, ” November to remember â¤ï¸.”
The group of pictures included some with her partner, director Jason Reitman, attending the 16th annual Governors Awards on November 16, 2025. Photos from what appeared to be a family Thanksgiving celebration were also included.
In a close-up photo, “The Shining” actor was seen posing for a selfie with Lorraine and her brother, Ray Nicholson. Lorraine had her arm around both men.
The comments of her post were flooded with fans showing love to the three-time Academy Award winner.
“Your dad looks great!” one fan wrote.
“jack looks amazing as per usualð” another added.
Yet another follower commented, “Thank you for sharing these pictures and especially the one with your dad â¤ï¸ Iâm so happy to see him ð¥°ð¥°ð¥°”
“So glad to see Jack looking so amazing! You and your brother as well! â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸,” another wrote.
Jack Nicholson’s Last Public Sighting
Prior to Lorraine’s social media activity with the beloved actor, Nicholson had largely retired from public life. His last onscreen appearance came in 2010’s “How Do You Know,” alongside A-list stars like Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Paul Rudd, and James L. Brooks.
While he still occasionally shows his face in his longtime courtside seats at the Los Angeles Lakers home games, Nicholson made a surprise appearance at “Saturday Night Live’s” 50th anniversary celebration.
The actor stopped by Studio 8H on February 16, 2025, for the taping of “SNL50: The Anniversary Special.”
He wore a black jacket and a matching button-up shirt. Nicholson accessorized with his signature sunglasses and a New York Yankees beret.
The “Bucket List” star briefly appeared on stage to introduce longtime pal Adam Sandler.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Sandler!” he said.
“Let’s hear it for Jack, baby! Jack made it out tonight! Love you, brother,” Sandler said.
Lorraine accompanied her father to the star-studded event and shared a recap to her social media days later.
“But seriously, can you know love until youâve helped another person put on their shoes?” she posted alongside photos of herself helping her father get dressed.
Jack Nicholson’s Kids
In addition to Lorraine, Nicholas is father to daughters Jennifer, 62, Honey, 43, and Tessa, 31, as well as sons Ray, 34, and Caleb, 55.
“I always read to them, from childhood on; I think that’s a father’s responsibility,” he told People in 2009 of his children. “I took them to things I knew they might not love â opera, ballet. They like going to the ball games with me. And they are very comfortable around show business; they are good set rats. They walked in on my death scene in ‘The Departed.’ I said, ‘If I can get these two kids really worried, I’m doin’ my job!’”
