Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts are still undetermined, and there has been no major breakthrough in her case, at least, nothing that has been released to the public. She is 84 and has been missing since February 1.

The public has become invested in this case, and everyone is hoping for a happy ending. As a show of support, the area around Nancy’s Tucson, Arizona, home has been filled with posters of her, sweet notes, and signs that read, “Bring Her Home.” These are some of the photos showing how the public is supporting the Guthrie family during this heartbreaking time.

Guthrie is a mom to three adult children, including her daughter, “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, who has publicly addressed her mother’s alleged abductors and also urged the public for help with the case. Savannah has shared information about the $1 million reward offered by the family for information relating to the safe return of the beloved Guthrie matriarch, and to help identify a person of interest in footage captured by a doorcam outside of Nancy’s house. Savannah, like her brother and sister, is heartbroken.

Flowers and cards have been laid out on the curbside. There are also missing persons flyers showing Nancy’s face.

The Importance of the Yellow Ribbon

Yellow ribbons and flowers have been placed in Nancy’s neighborhood as a sign of hope. Nancy’s neighbor, Laura Gargano, shared why the color is being used. “Some of us put flowers at the front of Nancy’s house, while others who may not have wanted to go down to Nancy’s house, put ribbons on their mailboxes,” she told People in February. “The yellow ribbon is a sentiment of hope and support after someone goes missing. I believe the use of the yellow ribbons goes back to hostage-taking in the 1970s.”

“Today” hosts have worn yellow ribbons in a show of solidarity and publicly voiced their support for Savannah and her family.

NBC News journalist Kate Snow wore a yellow ribbon on air and explained why in a Facebook post. “The yellow ribbon represents hope,” she wrote. “I wore it today because everyone here at NBC News is thinking of Savannah & the Guthrie family. Join me in continuing to send all your good energy their way.”
