Bears close Thursday’s training camp practice to fans

The Bears closed practice Thursday to fans because of projected inclement weather in the mid-afternoon.

Practice is scheduled to begin at 12:45 p.m. The team could move it from their outdoor fields to the Walter Payton Center if weather disrupts their practice. Tickets, which are free, are non-transferrable. As was the case for other weather-related cancellations during camp, the Bears offered their fans a coupon at their online store in apology.

Thursday marked the third training camp practice closed to fans in a 15-day span. On Sunday, fans were forced to leave and practice was delayed and later moved indoors when a lightning storm blew through Lake Forest.

The Bears are set to begin their preseason slate Saturday against the Browns at Soldier Field. They’ll travel to practice in Cincinnati and Nashville in the following two weeks. The opener is Sept. 13 in Charlotte, N.C.
